North Tarrant Express, Ft. Worth, Texas

This was an interesting nugget of information this morning… the speed limit on the North Tarrant Express has been raised to 75 miles per hour, whereas the general purpose lanes are 65 mph.  Given the design conditions in the corridor, including full separation of traffic, the higher speeds were justified by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

To my knowledge, this is only the second facility (besides the I-495 Express Lanes in Virginia) that has a differential speed limit between the express lanes and general purpose lanes within one corridor envelope.
