Provided research and analysis of active traffic management and managed lane strategies to address I-35W post-bridge replacement operations which were changed during the replacement work on this other freeway. David completed a state of the practice / literature review concerning the special use of shoulders for managed lanes, and, complementary active traffic management strategies; developed, examined and refined managed lane alternatives for I-94; and, is the lead author for the study’s final report. Concepts were evaluated through geometric and cost analysis, and operationally through CORSIM simulation. Findings indicated that a mix of strategies in the short term, conditionally implemented to preserve bus transit operations, were the most appropriate.
